PA Fish-In 2015

About The Fish-In >>

What is the PA Fish-In?

A "Fish-In" is a gathering of fly fishers to fish , swap lies, tie flies and spend time together outdoors. Over the years, there have been Fish-In's in various parts of the country. Several have become annual traditions.

Fish-In's grew out of the Fly Anglers Online website.  FAOL has no connection to local Fish-In's,  but the site serves as one location for Fish-In information. You can get PA Fish-In information  by clicking  http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/forumdisplay.php?46-Pennsylvania-Fish-In

The PA Fish-In is now an eagerly anticipated annual event. Last year we celebrated our tenth anniversary. Our motto sums it up...great people...great fly fishing and great food! The Fish-In is open to all anglers. First-timers and beginners are warmly welcomed. The PA Fish-In is headquartered in Waterville, PA.  Most of the fishing takes place on the Big Pine and Little Pine watersheds...but PA Fish-In anglers often fish many of the nearby "blue ribbon" trophy trout waters.

Fish-In anglers gather each morning at "The Farm" for breakfast and planning.  For more information about "The Farm" click on the following link  http://www.pacreeksidefarm.com/ .

Lunch, most days is up to you. Don't miss the "Shore Lunch Day" where everyone meets for some mid-day fun and fellowship. Many anglers fish the entire day...some fish the morning hatch...return to the "The Farm" for lunch (or a nap). Most everyone fishes the evening hatch until dark.

Dinner is equally (if not more) impressive than breakfast. After dinner there is plenty of fly tying...beverage drinking and all-round good natured BS'ing. Plans are made for the next day's fishing...then it's lights out.

About the fishing...Big Pine Creek offers miles and miles of big water fishing. Fish-In veterans  happily include first-timers and beginners...letting you in on all the "Hot Spots".  5 to 7 weight rods with an assortment of eastern spring hatch fly's will work.  Be prepared to fish above and below the surface. Little Pine Creek provides plenty of small stream fishing.  Many Fish-In anglers have had record days on the Little Pine.  3 to 5 weight rods with the same eastern spring hatch fly's will do the trick.  Often, anglers choose to travel to some of the area's "blue ribbon" trout streams including... Kettle Creek, Fisherman's Paradise, The Little Juniata and Penn's Creek.

While "The Farm", has limited indoor space, there are numerous options for lodging nearby including camping at "The Farm" on the spacious lawn area...bed and breakfast's...weekly cabin rentals and overnight camping at Little Pine State Park. There are two full service fly shops close by...McConnell's and Slate Run Tackle Shop (see links) to meet any equipment needs you may have. The atmosphere is casual...warm and cordial (so to speak). Fish-In regulars make sure first timers and beginners feel welcomed and included.
